Spandauer Forst
Spandauer Forst spans 1347 hectares in Berlin and encompasses two nature preserves, Teufelsbruch (48 hectares) and Großer (30.5 hectares). The Forst is an EU bird protection area, offering bird enthusiasts and ornithologists ample observation opportunities amid its diverse habitats. The forest hosts numerous water bodies and provides a rich environment for insects, birds, and mammals. Explorers can encounter 240 mushroom species, 550 beetle species, and 150 spider species, as well as marvel at bird species like the kingfisher, little grebe, goshawk, snipe, and woodcock. For a closer encounter with wildlife, an observation tower near the Spandau district forester's office allows visitors to observe animals in enclosures, including wild boar, red deer, fallow deer, roe deer, and mouflon. Additionally, the bathing area at Havel offers a refreshing escape in the cool waters during the summer months.
