During construction, only a few people in Stuttgart had confidence that a tower with a steel and concrete framework would endure. The construction took 20 months, and the Stuttgart television tower was inaugurated on 5 February 1956. Fernsehturm Stuttgart's design has been replicated in various buildings worldwide, including those in Frankfurt, Dortmund, Johannesburg, and Wuhan, China. The construction costs of 4.2 million marks were funded through entrance fees collected over five years. Many technical improvements have also been made to enhance the television tower's safety, including installing a smoke extraction system in 2005 and multiple renewals of the ventilation, heating, and sprinkler systems.”

“Staatsgalerie Stuttgart offers an exhibition area of 12,000 m², based on the Alte Staatsgalerie by architect Georg Gottlob Barth. Their collection includes paintings, sculptures, and graphics from the Middle Ages to the present day, as well as many masterpieces and an internationally outstanding collection of modern art. Special highlights are Oskar Schlemmer's "Figurines for the Triadic Ballet" from the early 1920s, the famous "Back Nudes" (1909-1930) by Henri Matisse, numerous works by Picasso, including the sculpture group "The Bathers" (1956) and that was personally curated by the artist in the Joseph Beuys room.
