“Städel Museum was established as a civic foundation in 1815 by the businessman and banker Johann Friedrich Städel. The Städel Museum ranks as Germany’s oldest museum foundation. The museum's collection includes around 3,100 paintings from the Middle Ages to modern and contemporary art. The graphic collection, which includes over 100,000 drawings and prints, is accessible in a presentation room. The Städel Museum's holdings also comprise over 4,600 photographs, 660 sculptures, and a reference library with 115,000 volumes. Under a single roof, its collection provides a virtually complete view of seven hundred years of European art from the early fourteenth century to the present, focusing on the Renaissance, the Baroque, early modern art, and much more. Children aged 12 to 18 receive free admission at the museum's box office when accompanied by an adult who purchases a regular ticket.”
